Alumni Meet 2010
Alumni Meet 2010 was organized in the GITAM School of International Business (formerly GIFT) on 28th August, 2010.
The graduating batch of 2010 participated in the Meet, shared their professional experience and interacted with the students and faculty of the School. Prof.VK Kumar in his welcome address talked about the Alumni as the brand ambassadors of the School and their responsibility in upholding the values of the School. Mrs.B. Sumidaa Devi, Deputy Commissioner, Customs, the Chief Guest of the Meet said that Alumni have a responsibility to the School which provided them education for a life time. Prof.MV lakshmi, Coordinator, Alumni Network, requested the alumni to support in every way to strengthen the alumni-GSIB bonding.
The senior students of GSIB prepared a video film of the Batch of 2010 and presented it at the Meet. The Meet was colourful and nostalgic as it was for the first time that the Meet was organized at the School premises, which the alumni thoroughly enjoyed.
Building Alumni-Institute Synergies: Alumnus Workshop on Consultancy Business@Global Stage and interaction meeting

GSIB has taken the initiative of Building Alumni-Institute Synergies. Alumnus Abir Banerjee, a 2007 passout of this institute that has won accolades in the organisation he worked i.e., Intelligroup and TCS was in the campus on 27th February, 2010 for an Alumnus-Institute Interaction Meeting. The day started with alumnus students’ introduction at the Institute “GIFT Bhavan. At 10.30 a.m. as scheduled the senior students of MBA-IB made group presentation on “Preparing for the D-Day” and discussed about preparation for the final placement written examination, group discussion and interview. It was a very interactive session with active participation of more than 100 students, organised in class room 2. Alumnus Mr.Abir Banerjee gave an elaborate feedback and answered several questions asked by the students about what it takes to be a good performer in organisations.
The afternoon session that was organised at KRC auditorium, started with the welcome address by the Director of the Institute Prof.VK Kumar. Prof.MV lakshmi, co-ordinator Alumni Network, who organised the interaction meeting introduced Mr.Abir Banerjee. Alumnus Mr.Abir Banerjee shared his international experience as a high performing SAP business consultant and responsibilities as Project Lead in TCS, for “Research in Motion” and earlier “Apple Vacations” project for Intelligroup. The junior batch students of Institute made a group presentation on “Management Best Practices across industry verticals”. This was again discussed at length by Mr.Abir Banerjee on how corporates’ look for clarity in understanding and the importance of presentation skills.
The last session Mr.Abir Banerjee conducted the Workshop on “Consultancy Business@ Global Stage” and covered topics like business consulting defined, WIN-WIN, Project Management, Business Consulting Activities throughout Project Life Cycle and shared his experience working with multicultural teams and clients in North America and Europe. The junior and senior batch students and some of the faculty of the institute participated in the meeting.
Alumni Meet 2009
Alumni Meet 2009 was organized at the Mother Theresa Auditorium, GITAM University campus on 29th August.
The Director Prof.VK Kumar in his welcome address briefed the alumni on the milestones achieved by the Institute and stated the importance of the Alumni Network . The theme of this meet is “2009 Year of Alumni Bonding” as 2009 is the 10th year for the alumni of the first batch 1997-99. K. Lakshmi Priya and S.Ramakrishna were nostalgic sharing their memories as they went down memory lane. Other alumni from various batches spoke at the Meet and made suggestions on how to strengthen the Alumni Network. The students were greatly motivated not only by those alumni who shared their thoughts and experiences at the meet but also from Video and email messages from alumni of various batches across the globe – from US, Africa, Middle East, Europe and Asia Pacific that were screened at the auditorium.
The senior and junior batch students organized the event that included a cultural event. Mr.MV Bijeesh, invited the Alumni to SAMBHAV 2009.
The Chief Guest of the evening Shri A.Bose, Director (HR) Dredging Corporation of India in his talk highlighted the important role that the alumni have to play in strengthening the institute.
Prof.MV Lakshmi, Coordinator of the Alumni Network spoke on “2009 Year of Alumni Bonding” and invited the alumni to actively engage in the activities of the institute that could bring great Institute – Alumni synergies.
